[edit]From New Latin meliphaga, from Ancient Greek μέλι (méli, “honey”) + φαγητόν (phagētón, “food, consumption”), from φαγεῖν (phageîn) aorist of ἐσθίω (esthíō), ἔδω (édō, “to eat, to consume”).
