[edit]Attested as Nendin in 1262,[1] 1290;[2] from Medieval Latin Nendini, the genitive of Nandinus, Nendinus, from a Suevic or Gothic personal name, from Proto-Germanic *nanþijaną (“to dare”) + *-īnaz.[3]
