[edit]From Ìlárá + mọ̀kị́n, ultimately from ì- (“nominalizing prefixi”) + ní (“to have”) + ará (“relative, family”) + mọ̀ (“to know”) + ọ̀kị́n (“African paradise flycatcher”), literally “The ones who possess many relatives are as honorable as the ọ̀kín bird”.
