[edit]By surface analysis, Hvite or hwit + ridh. First attested in 1399.[1]
- First half may be Hvite (“a male name”). It may also be hviter (“white”); the reason is unknown.[1]
- Second half might be related with ryd (“clearing”). It may also be related with rör (“cairn”); if so, it might refer to the Vittaryd labyrinth.[1]
