  Na Baía de Guanabara, em julho de 1566, um exército de 180 canoas tamoias lideradas pelo cacique Guaixará orquestrou uma cilada que envolveu cinco batéis portugueses, sendo que Estácio de Sá, Governador do Rio de Janeiro, estava presente em um deles. Os indígenas tinham como objetivo retaliar a tentativa de domínio lusitano sobre a região da Guanabara.
  In Guanabara Bay, in July 1566, an army of 180 Tamoio canoes led by Chief Guaixará orchestrated an ambush involving five Portuguese boats, one of which carried Estácio de Sá, the Governor of Rio de Janeiro. The Indigenous warriors aimed to retaliate against the Portuguese attempt to dominate the Guanabara region.
