[edit]From Proto-Brythonic *ėɣɨft, borrowed from Latin Aegyptus, from Ancient Greek Αἴγυπτος (Aíguptos), from Egyptian ḥwt-kꜣ-ptḥ (literally “The temple of the ka of Ptah”).
