Etymology
[edit]Inherited from Ottoman Turkish افلاق (eflak, “Wallachia”), from Old Church Slavonic влахъ m (vlaxŭ, “a Roman; a Vlach”), from Proto-Slavic *vòlxъ m (“a Roman”) ultimately from Proto-Germanic *walhaz m (“a non-Germanic foreigner, aCelt; later a Roman”).
