[edit]From Late Latin Domni Froilani ("Lord Froila's"), an improper genitive form of Froila,[1] from a Suevic and Gothic personal name, from *Frawilô,[2] from Proto-Germanic *frawjô (“lord”) and the diminutive personal suffix *-ilan-.[3]
