Η Μαόνα χώρισε την Χίο σε δώδεκα περιοχές, φέουδα, duodeni, που αντιστοιχούσε κάθε ένα σε μία μετοχή της εταιρίας και ονομάστηκαν δωδεκαρχία και συνδεσποτία. Κάθε duodeni χωριζόταν σε τρία μεγάλα κομμάτια που ονομάζονταν καράττια (caratti grossi) και κάθε καράττι χωριζόταν σε μικρότερα κομμάτια.
Maona divided Chios in twelve regions, fiefs, duodeni; each one of them corresponded to one share of the company and they were called δωδεκαρχία (dodekarchia) and συνδεσποτεία (syndespoteia). Each duodeni was divided into three big parts, called καράττια (karattia) (caratti grossi), and each καράττι (karatti) was divided into smaller pieces.
