Syllable-final /i/ and /u/

@SodhakSH For native (non-borrowed) words, there is an orthographic rule that

Syllable-final /i/ and /u/ are long

Elsewhere, /i/ and /u/ are short

However, learned borrowings from Sanskrit with syllable-final इ / उ may or may not follow this rule. For example, there are entries for both बधीर (badhīr) and बधिर (badhir). Do you think there be a {{lengthened form of}} redirect for बधीर (badhīr) if the main entry is बधिर (badhir) and a {{shortened form of}} redirect for बधिर (badhir) if the main entry is बधीर (badhīr)?
