- Syllable-final /i/ and /u/ are long
- Elsewhere, /i/ and /u/ are short
- However, learned borrowings from Sanskrit with syllable-final इ / उ may or may not follow this rule. For example, there are entries for both बधीर (badhīr) and बधिर (badhir). Do you think there be a
