[edit]Category:Eupen dialect
This requests was recently added by an IP user, as reason they stated: "for this category and all entries in it. Per w:Eupen dialect, it's part of Ripuarian (part of Central Franconian) and not Limburgish"
Personally I don't think the Eupen dialect is classified correctly on Wikipedia. Generally the most common classification to differentiate between the Ripuarian and Limburgish languages is the w:Benrath line (compare Limburgish maake v. Central Franconian maache). Considering that the Eupen dialect is for the most part made up of words that did not take part in the w:High German consonant shift, I believe it should thus be classified as Limburgish and not as Ripuarian/Central Franconian.
I recognise that, at times, certain dialectologists have referred to the dialect as being a part of w:Ripuarian Franconian (though at the same time other dialectologists also refer to it as w:Southeast Limburgish). But on Wikipedia, the Eupen dialect is also mentioned as being a part of the w:Low Dietsch dialects, and on that page it is classified as "East Low Franconian". So, Wikipedia is not consistent in its classification of the Eupen dialect.
So I think that, currently, there is a problem with the way Wikipedia classifies the transitional dialects between Limburgish and Ripuarian, and not with the way these dialects are classified on Wiktionary.
