Conjugation problem with pres act imper 3rd per pl?

[edit]

I'm not sure if this is the place for this kind of comment, but I may have identified a problem with the inflection table template for the present. Namely, it seems to use the wrong ending for the present active imperative 3rd person plural. It adds -όντων when at least in some cases, if I'm not mistaken, it should have -έτωσαν.

A similar problem may exist for other tenses (such as aorist) in the imperative 3rd person plural.

Examples where the problem (if I'm not wrong) currently exists: ἐσθίω ; ἀναβαίνω

An example of ἀναβαίνω in that form (pres act imperative 3rd per pl) is in Joel 4:12 LXX (3:12 in Swete's): https://www.academic-bible.com/en/online-bibles/septuagint-lxx/read-the-bible-text/bibel/text/lesen/stelle/29/40001/49999/ch/a3458ff1e6edb1d5d151b984bb15132d/

Similarly, ἐσθίω is in that form thrice in 2 Kings 4:41-43 LXX: https://www.academic-bible.com/en/online-bibles/septuagint-lxx/read-the-bible-text/bibel/text/lesen/stelle/12/40001/49999/ch/d5cb83271af0745ed620b4e26ed81a48/

I don't know if this may be a difference between Koine and more Ancient Greek or something like that or if there may be something else I'm not understanding. My knowledge of Greek is quite limited.

Wiktionary:Information desk#Ancient Greek - Inflection tables - Pres act imper 3rd per pl
This issue was addressed in the "Information desk" discussion linked above (in August 2023). It seems there were some changes in imperative 3rd person plural forms going from Attic to Koine or something along those lines. See this appendix, which is already linked in the inflection tables: Appendix:Ancient Greek dialectal conjugation#Imperative thematic
I suppose whether to change the presentation in the tables to include other forms (such as Koine) might depend on how often people would want that information as opposed to or in addition to regular Attic. And I imagine that issue has been discussed here before. NominativeCase (talk) 15:00, 24 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
