[edit]From Medieval Latin Guestremiri, Uestremiri, genitive of Guestremirus, Uestremirus,[1] from a Suevic or Gothic personal name, from a compound of Proto-Germanic *westraz (“western”) and *mērijaz (“great; famous”). Compare also Cristimil.
