From Hittite [script needed] (Anitta). The etymology of the name is unknown; neither demonstrably Indo-European nor clearly of non-Indo-European origin.[1]

  1. name of a king of ancient Kussara. The earliest known ruler to compose a text in the Hittite language. The author of the 'Anitta text' - the oldest known text in the Hittite language (the oldest known Indo-European text altogether).[2]
