[edit]Agreed to be derived from the placename Aduatuca. According to Xavier Delamarre, from Gaulish *aduātucā, from ad- (“towards”) + uātu (“soothsayer”) + -cā (“feminine of -āco, denoting the provenance or localization”), literally “place of the soothsayer, where one goes to prophesy”
