From aber (estuary, mouth) +‎ dau (two) +‎ Cleddau ((River) Cleddau); literally "mouth of the two Cleddaus" in reference to meeting point of the Cleddau Wen (White Cleddau River) and Cleddau Ddu (Black Cleddau River).
