[edit]Blend of aê (“grandfather; mister; lord”) + adiê (“sky; heaven”). Cognate with Jarai Ơi Adai. Compare Vietnamese ông trời (“the Jade Emperor”, literally “the Heavenly Lord”), Vietnamese Chúa Trời and Vietnamese Thiên Chúa (“Yahweh”, literally “the Heavenly Lord”).
