[edit]Etymology
[edit]Kloekhorst proposes a reconstruction Proto-Indo-European *yรฉw-on-, which he regards as a more archaic form of Proto-Indo-European *yรฉwos (โbarleyโ). Compare Ancient Greek ฮถฮตฮนฮฌ (zeiรก, โeinkorn wheatโ) and Sanskrit เคฏเคต (yรกva, โbarleyโ).
