[edit]Inherited from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀖𑀭 (ghara), from Ashokan Prakrit *𑀕𑀭𑁆𑀳 (*garha), from Sanskrit 𑘐𑘵𑘮 (gṛhá). Cognate with Old Gujarati घर (ghara), Old Hindi घर (ghara), Old Punjabi ਘਰੁ (gharu), Old Bengali ঘর (ghara).
