[edit]Etymology
[edit]Etymology tree
Inherited from Sanskrit संवर्तयति (saṃvartayati, “to cause to turn; to clench, wrap up”), from the root संवृत् (saṃvṛt), from सं- (saṃ-) + वृत् (vṛt).[1]
Compare the related 𑀲𑀁𑀯𑀼𑀝𑁆𑀝 (saṃvuṭṭa), 𑀲𑀁𑀯𑀼𑀢𑁆𑀢 (saṃvutta), from Sanskrit संवृत्त (saṃvṛtta, “approached; happened”).[2] Descendants may be influenced by Sanskrit संवेष्टयति (saṃveṣṭayati, “to wrap up, wind around”).
