Inherited from Proto-Turkic *eg- (to spin), a back-formation of 𐽰𐽷𐽶𐽾𐽹𐽰𐽷 (ʾkyrmʾk /⁠egirmek⁠/). Cognate with Khalaj heymək, Turkish eğmek, Uzbek yigirmoq, Yakut иэх (ieq, to bend).
