Inherited from Proto-Turkic *eg- (to spin), a variant of 𐽰𐽲𐽶𐽾𐽹𐽰𐽷 (egirmek). Cognate with Khalaj heyirmək, Turkish eğirmek, Uzbek yigirmoq.
