[edit]Inherited from Proto-Turkic *ẹĺit- (“to listen”). Cognate with Chuvash илт (ilt), Khalaj eşitmək, Turkish işitmek, Uzbek eshitmoq, Bashkir ишетеү (işetew), Yakut иһит (ihit).
