[edit]Inherited from Sanskrit गोष्ठ (goṣṭhá, “cow-shed; stable; meeting place”). Cognate with Pali goṭṭha, Prakrit 𑀕𑁄𑀝𑁆𑀞 (gŏṭṭha), 𑀕𑀼𑀝𑁆𑀞 (guṭṭha).
