[edit]Possibly from Proto-Germanic *rลhsniz, possibly from *rลkijanฤ (โto attend to, care forโ) + *-(s)niz (nominal suffix), literally, โprotected thingโ, though the form would have to be analogical (one would expect *๐๐๐บ๐ฝ๐ (*rลkns)).[1] See also Old English neorxnawang.
