[edit]From the root of Proto-Germanic *grindanฤ (โto grindโ) (apparently in the sense of โcrushedโ) + ๐๐๐ฐ๐ธ๐น (fraรพi, โmindโ). Likely a calque of Ancient Greek แฝฮปฮนฮณฯฯฯ ฯฮฟฯ (oligรณpsukhos), which it translates.
