From 𐌰𐌹𐌽𐍃 (ains, “[the number] one”) +‎ 𐌱𐌰𐌿𐍂 (baur, “one who is born; a child”), a calque of Ancient Greek μονογενής (monogenḗs). Compare German eingeboren.
