Etymology 2

First attested in the Seokbo sangjeol (釋譜詳節 / 석보상절), 1447, as Middle Korean 약〯대〮 (Yale: yǎktáy).

Seemingly related to Middle Chinese 駱駝 (MC lak da, “camel”), but the exact derivation is unclear. Nowadays largely displaced by orthodox Sino-Korean 낙타(駱駝) (nakta).
