[edit]Sino-Korean word from 弁韓. Said to originally be a compound of Old Korean 변 (byeon, “shimmering”) + 한 (han, “big”).

- Phonetic hangul: [변(ː)한]
- Though still prescribed in Standard Korean, most speakers in both Koreas no longer distinguish vowel length.
