[edit]First attested in the Beonyeok nogeoldae (飜譯老乞大 / 번역노걸대), 1517, as Middle Korean ᄆᆡᆫ (Yale: mòyn). Most likely a yang-vowel ablaut variant of 믠 (Yale: mùyn), whence modern 민 (min-, “bare; naked; unadorned”).[1] See there for more.
