Borrowed from Dutch senter (centre) (dialectal), from Latin centrum, from Ancient Greek κέντρον (kéntron, sharp point). Doublet of ꦱꦸꦮꦺꦤ꧀ꦠꦼꦂ (suwènter) and ꦱ꧀ꦮꦼꦤ꧀ꦠꦼꦂ (swenter).
