[edit]Inherited from Old Javanese ḍĕḍĕk (“rice bran”), from Proto-Malayo-Polynesian *dəkdək (“pulverize, crush by pounding”) (compare Tagalog darak (“bran”)) or Proto-Mon-Khmer *lʔək (“rice-bran”).
