Etymology
[edit]Compound of 鏡 (kagami, “mirror”) + 餅 (mochi, “mochi, a doughy kind of rice cake made from pounded glutinous rice”), so called for the resemblance in outline to ancient Japanese bronze mirrors.[1][2]
