Etymology

From 見(み) (mi, “seeing”, 連(れん)用(よう)形(けい) (ren'yōkei, “stem or continuative form”) of the verb 見(み)る (miru, “to see”).) + 殺(ころ)し (koroshi, “killing”, 連(れん)用(よう)形(けい) (ren'yōkei, “stem or continuative form”) of the verb 殺(ころ)す (korosu, “to kill”).). The koroshi changes to goroshi as an instance of rendaku (連濁).
