[edit]Usage notes
[edit]Bancha often consists of leaves or stems leftover after harvesting higher quality sencha (煎茶) tea, or sometimes of leaves or stems cut during pruning of tea plants. The tea is sometimes roasted to make hojicha (焙じ茶) or combined with toasted rice to make genmaicha (玄米茶).
