Usage notes
[edit]- 王五 (Wáng Wǔ) is only used when there is an aforementioned 張三 / 张三 (Zhāng Sān) and a 李四 (Lǐ Sì), referring to a third John Doe.
- 王五 (Wáng Wǔ) is less established than 張三 / 张三 (Zhāng Sān) and 李四 (Lǐ Sì). For three or more anonymous people, speakers tend to invent ad hoc random-sounding names like 趙五 (Zhào Wǔ) or 王二麻子 (Wáng Èr Má Zǐ).
