Usage notes
[edit]This term, while usually neutral, may sound offensive to Mainlanders because of its apparent meaning (Etymology 1). In 2018, the Council of Agriculture of the Republic of China published a post on Facebook to proscribe the use of this term in favour of 福山萵苣/福山莴苣 (Fúshān wōjù) and other alternatives.[1]
