Unknown. Perhaps from 蚊々 (kaga, mosquitoes) +‎ (no, possessive particle) +‎ (bo, mother) or 蚊々 +‎ +‎ (uba, granny). The kanji, from (big) +‎ (mosquito), are jukujikun (熟字訓).
