Etymology
[edit]Coined in linguist Yang Shih-Feng's The Hakka Dialect of Tao-yuan, Taiwan (《臺灣桃園客家方言》), published in 1957; refers to four counties of the Jiaying Prefecture during the Qing dynasty: Xingning (興寧), Changle (長樂, now called Wuhua 五華), Pingyuan (平遠) and Zhenping (鎮平, now called Jiaoling 蕉嶺). Taiwanese Hakkas who speak the Sixian dialect can generally trace back their ancestry to these counties.
