Etymology
[edit]First attested in the 三国志 (Sangokushi, “Records of the Three Kingdoms”), particularly in the 魏志倭人伝 (Gishi Wajinden, “Records of Cao Wei on the Account of the People of Wa”).[1][2][3][4][5]
From Literary Chinese 卑彌呼 (OC *pie mie hɑ) in Later Han pronunciation,[6] the original pronunciation remains uncertain.
