Etymology
[edit]Compound of 前 (mae, “before, ahead”) + 触れ (fure, 連用形 (ren'yōkei, “stem or continuative form”) of the verb 触れる (fureru, “to contact, to report”).). The fure changes to bure as an instance of rendaku (連濁).
