Etymology
[edit]Possibly named after 保皇會 / 保皇会 (bǎohuánghuì, “Chinese Empire Reform Association”), short for 保救大清皇帝會 / 保救大清皇帝会 (bǎojiù Dàqīng huángdì huì, literally “Society to Protect the Emperor of the Great Qing”), which was the political organization set up by Kang Youwei and Liang Qichao in Guangxu era to promote reforms in order to save the Qing imperial regime.
