Etymology
[edit]From 不貞 (fute, 連用形 (ren'yōkei, “stem or continuative form”) of the verb 不貞る (futeru, “to sulk”), from which 不貞腐れる (futekusareru, “to sulk”) is also derived) + 寝 (ne, 連用形 (ren'yōkei, “stem or continuative form”) of the verb 寝る (neru, “to sleep”)). The kanji 不貞 (fute) are ateji (当て字) from 不貞る (futeru).[1][2]
