[edit]- エレキ (ereki)
Etymology
[edit]Perhaps from a modified short form of エレクトリック・ギター (erekutorikku gitā).[1] Compare エレキテル (erekiteru). Also compare ケーキ (kēki, “cake”), デッキ (dekki, “dekki”), プロキシ (purokishi, “proxy”) for the use of キ (ki) instead of the typical ク (ku) to transcribe the foreign sound /k/. (This etymology is missing or incomplete. Please add to it, or discuss it at the Etymology scriptorium.)
