Yonaguni

Etymology

This verb has an irregular perfective form とぅどぅとぅん (tudutun) instead of the more common *とぅどぅてゃん (*tudutyan), which is likely due to loaning from Okinawan. Compare Shuri Okinawan dialect とぅどぅちゅん (tuduchun), a well fitting source for the etymon. Also cognate with Japanese 届く (todoku, “to continue”).
