[edit]A shift from たとて (-ta tote), a combination of た (-ta, suffix showing completion/realization of an action) + とて (tote, “even if”, a conditional particle, itself being a compound of quotative particle と (to) and conjunctive particle て (te)).[1]
Surface analysis た (-ta) + って (tte).
