[edit]Compound of 御 (o-, “honorific prefix”) + 焦げ (koge, “burnt”, from 焦げる (kogeru, “to be burned”)). The fag hag sense arises from analogy to burnt residue sticking to a お釜 (okama, “cooking pot; homosexual”).
