  1. The paragraphos, an underlining of the first letter or two of a line of text, typically extending into the left margin, that indicates a change of speaker in that line.

Usage notes

The paragraphos is similar in function to the quotation dash , but in contrast is a termination mark. It may be used together with other punctuation where the speech ends, such as the dicolon :.
