ῥίψ
Appearance
Ancient Greek
[edit]Alternative forms
[edit]- ῥῖπος (rhîpos)
Etymology
[edit]No agreement outside Greek. It was connected with ῥίπτω (rhíptō, “to throw, hurl”) long ago, assuming a basic meaning "turn, wind" for both. However, this connection fails due to the weak semantics.
