Etymology

For ὀβρίκαλα (obríkala), compare animal names and hypocoristic formations like ὀρτάλιχος (ortálikhos) and ὁσσίχος (hossíkhos). Furnée assumes Pre-Greek origin, with interchange ὀ/ἰ between ὀβρίκαλα (obríkala) and ἰβρίκαλοι (ibríkaloi, young pigs).
