Cognate with Thai บ้าน (bâan), Northern Thai ᨷ᩶ᩤ᩠ᨶ, Lao ບ້ານ (bān), Tai Dam ꪚ꫁ꪱꪙ, Shan မၢၼ်ႈ (māan) or ဝၢၼ်ႈ (wāan), Tai Nüa ᥛᥣᥢᥲ (màan), Ahom 𑜈𑜃𑜫 (ban), Zhuang mbanj, Tày bản.
